For many players, the proximity of Paris is a major factor in their choice for this tournament. The organisation of the Maurepas-Yvelines Cup is obviously aware of this and takes that into account when preparing the match programme. This means that enough time is planned after the five matches each team will at least play to allow for a visit to the many attractions of the city of light. The participants are expected in Maurepas for the check-in and can also spend their evening here, as the club house is open. Those who fancy something a bit more adventurous could decide on some karting instead. Young and old are welcome in Maurepas at B Kart Indoor. The teams collide for the first time in the qualifiers on Saturday. This tournament day stops early in order to allow teams wanting to visit Paris enough time. Sunday is another footie-crammed day with the remaining qualifiers, the teamleaders reception at noon, the ranking matches and finals. The award ceremony takes place immediately after the finals.

As well as participation at the tournament, Euro-Sportring also arranges the accommodation for the participants. Participants can usually choose between school accommodation, group accommodation (youth accommodation and bungalows) and hotels. Paris, 22 miles from Maurepas, is centrally located in Northern France on the River Seine, and houses more than two million people. The city is steeped in history, which is reflected in the enormous number of monuments and museums. Who hasn't heard of the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre, the Arc de Triomphe, or the Champs Elysées? Paris has continued to grow over the years, so that some of the neighbouring villages have by now become city neighbourhoods. A number of them have managed to retain their very own character; Montmartre for example, still has a deeply magnetic power over artists. There are all kinds of shopping options. Paris has a number of major department stores (Galeries Lafayette, Le Printemps, both found on the boulevard Haussmann) and shopping centres (Forum des Halles, Centre Maine-Montparnasse). There are also clear concentrations of certain shopping branches in the city. Jewellers are concentrated in the rue de la Paix for example and on the place Vendôme, luxury sports articles are sold on the Champs-Elysées and avenue de la Grande-Armée. Each neighbourhood has its own streets with characteristic little boutiques of course. Paris has always been famous for its nightlife, and is especially well endowed when it comes to variety theatres and music halls, offering shows which are a mix of music, song and dance. The oldest and most famous music halls are the Folies Bergère (32 rue Richier) and Casino de Paris (16 rue de Clichy). Take a well filled wallet along! There are also many other less prestigious clubs where the shows are equally worth while. By the way, Paris is top of the list for cafes, both indoor and out. Fun neighbourhoods for an evening out include Montmartre ( the artist neighbourhood) and Quartier Latin (the student neighbourhood). Traffic in Paris is nerve wracking hectic. However, public transport is excellent, and a 'billet de tourism' offers you unlimited use of all means of transport for a choice of 1, 2, 4 or 7 days (bus, train, underground, with the exception of one or two lines).

City tour (Saturday afternoon/evening). For teams travelling by touring car, Euro-Sportring can arrange a city tour. Suggested itinerary: Marne valley - Place de la Bastille, where the famous prison was torn down at the beginning of the revolution in 1789 - Hôtel de Ville (town hall), through the Rue de Rivoli - the Louvre museum which contains all the artistic French treasures. Visitors would need more than several years in case every piece of art would be contemplated for 1 minute - Place de la Concorde, the magnificent square commemorating the French jet-set and royal persons being decapitated during the revolution - Avenue des Champs Elysées with its impressive panorama - Arc de Triomphe, superb monument illustrating Napoleon’s victories - the Trocadero palace with a great view over the Eiffel tower, where a cruise on the Seine can be organised if required (entry fee: Approx. € 6,- per person). Finally, if time is on your side, a visit to the Notre Dame cathedral and a last climb to the Sacré-Coeur, where you find a beautiful view over the city, in the Montmartre area (restaurants, entertainment) will achieve the tour.

Versailles (10 miles from Maurepas). Just outside Maurepas in the direction of Paris you will find Versailles, one of the most impressive castles in the world. As a matter of fact Versailles is one big park with various castles and gardens from the 17th century. It is absolutely a must for a long or short visit to take a look in the castle or just wander about the park. More info: www.chateauversailles.fr

Maurepas. Maurepas (20,000 inhabitants) is situated along the N10 southwest of Paris, a bit past Versailles. In the middle of the 19th century, Maurepas was still a small village with a population of barely 300. Thanks to the construction of the railway to Paris, among other things, the village began to grow. Maurepas is a municipality where old and new combine very nicely: a modern city with the tranquil atmosphere of the countryside.
