Basinus Trophy Bensheim, Germany - 14 untill 15 May 2010 (Ascension) (de)

Competitors travelling to Bensheim for the Basinus Trophy can be sure of one thing: they will definitely be playing a lot of football. At the new sports complex of FSG Bensheim, each team will play at least six matches spread over two days. Thanks to an extensive supplementary programme, the organisation ensures that the participants to the Basinus Trophy are entertained every single second of the tournament. It starts with a team leaders meeting on Thursday evening, followed by the opening party with a parade of all teams and fireworks display. On Friday the tournament really kicks of with the qualifying matches. In the evening, a disco party is programmed for the boys and girls, whilst a reception is held for the coaches. The last group matches are played on Saturday morning, as well as the ranking matches and the finals. The winners may lift the cup during a grand good-bye party on Saturday evening.

As well as participation at the tournament, Euro-Sportring also arranges the accommodation for the participants. Participants can usually choose between school accommodation, group accommodation (youth accommodation and bungalows) and hotels. The accommodation we offer has been selected with care and must comply to a number of conditions such as are they within easy reach of the sports park, do they provide value for money, are they suitalbe for sports groups, are they safe and are the management fliexible. BENSHEIM:

Bensheim (40,000 inhabitants) lies in the picturesque landscape of Hessische Bergstraße. It is also sometimes called the German Riviera because of its mild climate. The sheltered location of Bensheim on the edge of Odenwald means that it is still autumn in Bensheim when it is winter in the rest of Germany. The mild climate means that the region is ideally suited for vineyards. Riesling is particularly good. Bensheim is the economic and cultural centre of Hessische Bergstraße. It is a lively town with narrow allies and pleasant squares where the street scene is determined by lovingly restored half-timbered houses. The oldest half-timbered house in the region can also be found in Bensheim. Another important attraction in the town is the ‘Luftkurort’ Auerbach quarter where a castle of the same name can be found. The castle was built in the thirteenth century as a country house for the nobility, but it is nowadays popular with tourists. MANNHEIM:

Mannheim (22 miles from Bensheim). Mannheim has 300,000 residents, is enclosed between the Rhine and the Neckar rivers and has developed thanks to its inland harbour. Its claim to fame is thanks to the car industry: Carl Benz produced his first car here. The city has a very special shape: a fully rectangular network of streets which almost all have a code instead of a name. A bus departs from the water tower on the Friedrichtsplatz daily at 10:30 hours for a two hour city tour, which includes viewing of Mannheim Palace and the view from the Fernmeldeturm communications tower. Heidelberg (19 miles from Bensheim) is a romantic and lively town at the same time. Heidelberg combines the best of the two worlds. The legendary inner city, dominated by a famous castle at the top of the mountain, is one of the prettiest places of Europe.
